Francis C. “Conny” Myer III | Obituary

Francis C. “Conny” Myer III, 89, of Waterloo, formerly of Cahokia, died Jan. 13, 2015 in Waterloo.

He was born Dec. 22, 1925 in Decatur.

Mr. Myer was retired from the I.R.S. in East St. Louis.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and was held as a P.O.W. during World War II.

He was a Fourth Degree member of the Waterloo Knights of Columbus and Past Grand Knight of the Third Degree and Past Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, both in Cahokia, and   VFW Post 6504 in Waterloo.

He was elected to the Cahokia School District 187 board in 1968, he then became president of the board in April 1969 to April 1970 and April 1973 to 1974.

Conny was also an avid golfer and enjoyed collecting golf balls.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn Myer, nee Markee; three sons, Neil, Christopher, and Gregory; and his parents, Francis and Margaret, nee Sanders, Myer.

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Nancy Myer, nee Teahan; his children, Paul (Judy) Myer of Waterloo, Katherine “Katy” (Terry Wayne) Nicholson of Festus, Mo., Stacy (Tom) Foster of Shiloh, Stephanie (Ron) Parker of St. Louis, Mo., Scott Frederick of Columbia, Tim (Beth) Frederick of Dupo, and Nancy Sue Silas of Cahokia; two daughters-in-law, Jeanine and Janet Myer; a brother, George (Ann) Myer of Camarilo, Calif.; a sister, Florette (John) Hamilton of Laguna Hills, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, Rachael, Andy, Jacque, Colby, Carley, Jessica, Clay, Andy, Christine, Katie, Paige, Aaron, Clare, and Sean; and his beloved pets, Trixie and Ben. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Jan. 16 at Braun Family Funeral Home in Columbia, with a VFW Post 6504 service at 6:45 p.m. and Knights of Columbus service at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Jan. 17 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo.

Private cremation will follow.
