Eagles soar to 4-0 with win at Wesclin

The Columbia High School football team waited out the storm Friday night and rained down with offense on Saturday, winning 44-13 at Wesclin on Saturday.

Eagles quarterback Greg Long threw for a touchdown and rushed for three more in the victory, which moved Columbia to 4-0 on the season.

Long’s five-yard scamper made it 7-0 early in the first quarter. Running back Colton Byrd followed suit with a 14-yard TD run to put the Eagles up 14-0.

Wesclin scored a TD to open the second quarter, but Long kicked a 4-0 yard field goal to make it 17-6.

Dylan Hildebrand grabbed an interception and ran it back 27 yards for a score for Columbia, and a 10-yard TD catch by Jordan Holmes gave the Eagles a 30-6 lead at halftime.

Long added TD runs of 14 and 10 yards in the second half for Columbia. He finished 10-for-15 passing and 120 yards. Holmes had 112 yards receiving. Byrd rushed for 176 yards.

On defense, Jarrett Allscheid made 12 tackles and Owen Suedkamp added 10 tackles.
