Donald H. Stellhorn | Obituary

Donald H. Stellhorn, 81, of Red Bud, died Dec. 31, 2014.

He was born April 15, 1933, son of the late Odes and Isabelle Stellhorn, nee Oberheuser.

He graduated from Red Bud High School and served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Elsa Lucht.

Donald was a dairy farmer, member of the Red Bud VFW, where he enjoyed participating in the flag program, a member of the Red Bud Senior Center, and an avid card player.

Some of his passions involved reading and socializing. The friends he made while playing cards were a very important part of his life.

He is survived by his four children, Phyllis (Steve) Notter, Martin (Terri) Stellhorn, Rita (Mark) Byers, and Tim (Samantha) Stellhorn; grandchildren Amy (Michael) Sutton, Michael (Jodi) Notter, Elizabeth Notter, Katie Stellhorn (Travis Liefer), Karlee Stellhorn, Sophia Stellhorn (Coltin Biethman), Olivia Stellhorn, and Savannah Stellhorn; great-grandchildren Blayton, Ellessandria and Loxton Sutton; along with many cousins, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Helen and grandson Kyle Stellhorn.

It was Donald’s request to donate his remains to Washington University to benefit future generations.

It was also his wishes to not have a ceremony. A private family ceremony took place on the day of his passing.
