Derek James “D.J.” Venvertloh | Obituary

Derek James “D.J.” Venvertloh, 30, of Quincy, died Oct. 25 in Quincy.

He was born on Nov. 29, 1983 in Quincy, a son of Dale and Marty Rupp Venvertloh.

He married Morgan Frericks on Jan. 17, 2009, in the Church of St. Peter. She survives.

D.J. was a 2002 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame. In 2006, he earned a degree in finance from Eastern Illinois University, and in 2010, received his juris doctorate from Southern Illinois University School of Law in Carbondale. He was a partner/attorney with Venvertloh Law Office.

D.J. was an active member of the Church of St. Peter and was a member of the Quincy Notre Dame Advisory Board. D.J. was also a member of the Adams County and Illinois bar associations.

In addition to his wife, Morgan, D.J. is also survived by his two sons, Abraham and Augustine Venvertloh; his parents, Dale and Marty Venvertloh of Quincy; his in-laws, Jay and Carol Frericks, nee Weber, of Quincy and formerly of Waterloo; and three brothers, Scott Venvertloh and his wife, Isabel, of Denver, Colo., Craig Venvertloh and his wife, Janet, of Quincy; Kyle Venvertloh and his wife, Kimberly, also of Quincy; and grandmother-in-law Marcia Weber of Waterloo. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

D.J. was preceded in death by his grandparents and an uncle, the Rev. Ken Venvertloh.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Church of St. Peter in Quincy.

A funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 31, in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter by Msgr. Leo Enlow.

Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Quincy.

Memorials may be made to Quincy Notre Dame or to St. Peter School.
