Crash with injury on Kaskaskia Road

The Waterloo Fire Department assisted the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and EMS personnel at the scene of a truck crash with entrapment in the area of 5700 Kaskaskia Road at about 8:25 a.m. Sunday.

The vehicle involved was a blue Ford F150 quad cab that appeared to have driven off the roadway at the “S” curve on Kaskaskia Road near Route 3, struck a culvert and went airborne before landing in a grassy area.

Survival Flight helicopter airlifted the driver, Scott Niggli, 32, of rural Waterloo, to Saint Louis University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the crash.
