Injury crash on Country Club Lane

Police, fire and emergency personnel responded about 1 a.m. Tuesday to a vehicle crash with injuries on Country Club Lane at Sherwood Lane in Waterloo. The crash remains under investigation.

Two occupants of the 2002 Chevy Trailblazer involved in the crash, Caitlin Fenton and Mike Diggs, both 18, were transported by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening. Both Survival Flight and Arch medical helicopters were initially put on standby, but neither could fly due to weather. A third occupant was uninjured and another, identified as Ian Mattingly, was eventually contacted by phone away from the scene and appeared to be uninjured but uncooperative with police.

A St. Louis County police helicopter had been requested to help search for Mattingly after he was nowhere to be found at the crash scene.
