Columbia police, fire and EMS departments, and Monroe County EMS and Dupo EMS, responded just before 3 p.m. Friday to a report of a four-vehicle crash on Route 3 at Bottom Avenue.

The fire department blocked the northbound lanes of Route 3 as they worked at the scene.

Three persons were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries. The two vehicles with the most damage were a Jeep Cherokee and Ford Fusion, a fire official said. One person was extricated from each of those vehicles. Two occupants of the Ford Fusion required medical transport.
