Clyde L. Burkhardt

Clyde L. Burkhardt, 91, of Waterloo, died Dec. 21, 2012, in St. Louis.

He was born May 29, 1921, in Maeystown, son of the late George F. and Emma C. Burkhardt (nee Floerke).

He was married to Pearl C. Burkhardt; she preceded him in death.

Mr. Burkhardt was retired from State Bank of Waterloo, where he previously serves as president. He was a member of Waterloo American Legion Post 747, and was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his children Portia (John) Stueve; and Steven E. (Dee Anne) Burkhardt; grandchildren Amber (Eric) Timm, Justin (Charity) Burkhardt, Miles Burkhardt, Abbey Burkhardt and Evan Burkhardt; great-grandchildren Jackson and Evelyn Timm; and sister Delvera Eisele; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy Parsons and Vernell C. Burkhardt, and brother Quinley E. Burkhardt.

Visitation was Dec. 27-28, at Quernheim Funeral Home.

Funeral services were Dec. 28, at the funeral home, Pastor Ivan Horn officiating.

Interment followed at Waterloo Cemetery, Waterloo.

Memorials may be made to the Waterloo American Legion Scholarship Fund.
