Burglaries reported in Columbia

The Columbia Police Department is investigating two burglaries reported in town on Tuesday.

The first burglary occurred to a locked construction trailer located near a house under construction in the 1500 block of Anton Drive. It was reported at 7:30 a.m. Tools and other items were reported missing from the trailer, police said.

The second burglary was reported at about 11 a.m. in the 11000 block of Bluff Road. Forced entry was gained to a brick home under renovation to become a business and tools were taken from inside.

An Illinois State Police crime scene unit was requested to assist in processing both crime scenes, Columbia Police Chief Jerry Paul said.

Police urge anyone who may have observed recent suspicious activity at or near either of these locations to call the Columbia police station at 618-281-5151.
