Monroe County Sheriff Neal Rohlfing said the vehicle, a 1999 Ford Taurus, was reported stolen on May 13 from the Waterloo Walmart parking lot.

The vehicle had its ignition popped and there were no plates found.

On May 16, police initiated an investigation into a truck that was discovered in the ditch along Kidd Lake Road just south of Stringtown Road near Fults. The truck, a gray Dodge Ram 3500 with Kansas plates, was reported stolen out of Wilson County, Kansas, just one day before.
