Welcome to the new and improved RepublicTimes.net!

We encourage you to look around and get familiar with all of our site’s new features.

The homepage contains all the latest content from news and sports to upcoming events. You can also click on the news tab to see many news stories, starting with the most recent. Also, you can browse our site using the search bar in the right hand corner of the page if you are looking for something in particular.

For all the sports fans and followers out there, we have your own personal local sports hub on our new sports page. This will show you all the latest sports stories, scores, video highlights and schedules. Our sports page is broken down by school as well, so you can view the latest in your school’s athletics by either choosing your school in the drop down menu under the sports tab at the top of the page or in the sidebar under the local sports schedule. In the sidebar, you can also narrow it down even further by your school’s specific sport.

To view a news or sports article, click on the article photo or headline and it will take you to the full article on its own page. Feel free to share the article through the share bar to the left that allows you to email it, like it on Facebook, tweet it through Twitter, and other various social media outlets. You can also share the article by simply copying the link or web address in the web address or URL bar at the top of your screen, and pasting it into an email. We encourage you to pass it along, because news is meant to be shared!

You can also go to our Twitter or Facebook pages by clicking on our social media icons in the sidebar on the right, as well as sign up for our free NEWS FLASH email alerts by entering your email address in the bar above the upcoming events.

You can also see all the events by clicking on our “Events” tab at the top of the page. Here, you can see a list of all our upcoming events posted on the website, as well as see it in a calendar view by clicking the light grey “Calendar” button in the upper right hand corner of the events page. In the calendar view, you can click on an event you are interested in and it will take you to it’s full description, or you can choose the month and year you would like to view by choosing the drop down menu in the top left hand corner above the calendar.

So how do you get your club or organization’s event in our community calendar? Just go to the very top bar on our website above the Republic-Times logo and click on “Submit an Event” on the left hand side next to “Home.” Here, you can fill out a form complete with your event’s information and photo/flier that will automatically send to one of our Republic-Times staff members, who will proofread and/or verify your event that will then appear on our calendar.

At the very top of our page you can also electronically send us an announcement/milestone and news tips as well, through a form similar to that of our events form. Your milestone will then appear in our print edition, as well as on our website under the “Milestones” tab. We hope this saves you time and is more convenient by having the ability to send everything electronically to us without mailing it or coming into our office. Of course, everyone is always welcome, so if you have any questions, do not have an electronic copy of the photo you would like to submit, or simply feel more comfortable submitting it in person, please come on in! Our office is located at 114 N. Main Street in Waterloo.

At the very top of our website is our online edition link. By clicking on “Online Edition,” you can then sign up or read our online e-edition of the newspaper each Wednesday starting at noon.

A brand new feature to our website is our Media Store, which you can get to by clicking on the “Media Store” tab. Here, you can purchase a downloadable file of a photo taken of you, your child, organization or someone you know at an event. Currently, we have fall sports team photos available, along with Waterloo Homecoming and Parade photos, Monroe County Fair photos and Monroe County Fair Pageant photos.

Our electronic payment services also extend to subscriptions — both for the online and print edition — as well as videos and obituaries. To subscribe to our print or online editions through our website, click the “Subscribe” tab. Of course, we will continue to accept subscriptions through the mail or in our office in addition to the website.

In addition to our electronic payment services, we are also offering online submissions and payment of classified ads. You can find our classifieds at the very top of the page between “Submit a news tip” and “Online edition.” To submit a classified, click on “Classifieds” at the top of the page and follow the instructions. Our classifieds will also be listed online at this location so you can view our listed classifieds by category to quickly see what you are looking for. Our classifieds also list area garage sales that have been submitted, so you can plan out your garage sale route each weekend. If you have questions on how to submit a classified online, please don’t hesitate to call our office at 939-3814.

Our new website has opened up a whole new world of opportunities for local businesses to spread the word about their products and services. We now have more advertisement spaces with more opportunities to get creative and reach a whole new audience. Along with web ads, we also have the opportunity to advertise at the beginning of our videos as well. To get more information on how to advertise with us through our website, videos, emails, and print, click on the “Advertise with Us” tab.

We hope this gives you a good overview of our new site. We are excited for this new chapter in the Republic-Times and are proud to help serve Monroe County and surrounding areas just as we have since 1890. We encourage you to look around the new RepublicTimes.net and see all of its new features.

Feel free to call our office at 618-939-3814.
