The Waterloo boys cross-country team took fourth place at the Class 2A Triad Regional on Saturday, with the girls team coming in fifth. The fourth and fifth place finishes land the Bulldogs in the Decatur Sectional on Saturday.

Waterloo’s Josh Rodenberg placed first at the event with a time of 15:41, beating out Chris Martin and Murphy Affolder of Mascoutah who came in second and third. The Bulldog’s Hope Elliott raced for the girls and took home fifth place with a time of 19:52.

Meanwhile at the Class 1A regional in Chester, Gibault’s Nathan Schmidt and Red Bud’s Ethan DuClos advanced to the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville Sectional as individuals. DuClos’ teammates Brittney Burmester and Deanna Deterding placed in the top two spots for the girls, helping the Lady Musketeers take home a first place trophy and advance to sectionals as a team.

The Valmeyer girls cross-country team also had some success in the Class 1A regional, taking fourth. Morgan Redohl’s seventh place finish and Emily Moschbacher’s eighth place finish helped advance the Pirates to the SIUE sectional.
