A Waterloo man was hospitalized with serious injuries sustained Monday afternoon during a crash that occurred on Interstate 55 at the Park Avenue exit near Soulard in St. Louis.

Andrew Brandt of Waterloo suffered serious head injuries when his car overturned after colliding with a tractor-trailer on northbound I-55 at about 1:15 p.m.

St. Louis firefighters had to extract Brandt from his vehicle.
