The Waterloo girls tennis team took their first match of the season on Monday against Roxana 5-4.
“(They are) trying to promote our program,” said the tennis coach Brett Ivers. “If you can’t tell from our bright tennis ball colored shirts!”
In singles, junior Micki Brinkmann defeated Roxana’s Kaitlyn Kamp 6-2, 6-5; Waterloo sophomore Brittany Prange won her match against Anna Ballard 7-5, 6-0; and senior bulldog Elizabeth Garner took her match over Cati Sims 6-0,6-2.
In doubles, Brinkman and Prange defeated the Kamp doubles team in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 7-5; Garner and junior Dava Lake beat their doubles opponents in two sets 6-1, 6-1.
“The girls are excited about the upcoming season,” said Coach Ivers after his team’s win.
