Waterloo girls among top SIYSSA shooters

Two young women from Waterloo were honored by the Southern Illinois Youth Sport Shooting Association as part of its top 20 of 190 trapshooting athletes at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta on June 26.

These athletes had competed since September 2013 against their peers from 10 teams from Southern Illinois in Amateur Trapshooting Association registered competitions at the shooting complexes at Sparta and Rend Lake.

Awards were given to the top shooters in the junior, sub-junior and lady divisions.

Brittany Mehner of the Waterloo Lead Heads shooting team was named top lady on the Junior Gold Team.

Caroline Stratman of the Waterloo Lead Heads was named second place lady on the Sub-Junior Gold Team.
