Waterloo, Dupo fall in Regional Quarterfinals

The Waterloo and Dupo High School volleyball teams’ seasons came to an end on Monday night.

Dupo took on Carlyle in the Class 1A Nashville Regional Quarterfinals in Dupo. The Tigers fell, 25-9, 25-15. Dupo senior Shannon Hood led the team with 5 kills, while fellow classmate Lydia Edwards added with 2 kills. The Tigers ended their season with a record of 5-10 overall.

Meanwhile, the Waterloo Bulldogs took on Mascoutah in the Class 3A Murphysboro Regional Quarterfinals in Mascoutah on Monday, falling, 20-25, 25-15, 25-21.Kelli Kosydor led the team with 12 kills, while Marissa Modglin and Mia Reed charted 7 kills apiece. Emelia led Waterloo with 20 assists.

The Bulldogs ended their season at .500, with a record of 13-13 overall. They defeated Mascoutah twice before during the regular season.

Tuesday, Columbia will take on Mascoutah in the Class 2A Murphysboro Regional Semi Finals at Mascoutah at 6 p.m. In the same class, but in the Nashville Regional, Gibault will play Wesclin in Dupo at 6 p.m. Following that game, Red Bud will face Carlyle in Dupo at 7 p.m.

In the Class 1A Marissa Regional semi-finals, Valmeyer will play Marissa in New Athens at 6 p.m.
