Tammy M. Martin

Tammy M. Martin (nee VanScoyk) 44, of Lake St. Louis, Mo., died peacefully in her sleep June 6, 2018.

She was born in St. Louis, the daughter of Patricia Mees (nee Mealer) of Columbia and the late Clark VanScoyt of Camdenton, Mo.; and Bob Mees of Columbia.

She was a very proud mother of two children, Nicholas B. Martin and Sarah E. Martin.

Tammy attended Columbia High School, then went to Alton High School, where she graduated in 1991. She also attended Maryville University in St. Louis, where she worked toward a nursing degree; Sanford-Brown College in Granite City; Southern Illinois University Edwardsville; and American Academy of Professional Coders. She was looking forward to finishing her nursing degree.

She worked as a pre-certification team leader at St. Anthony’s Medical Center, St. Louis. She was a Medicare billing specialist at St. Francis Health Center, Tulsa, Okla.

She was an auditor for the Doctor’s Hospital of Springfield, Mo. She worked as a certified medical assistant at Riverbend Physicians & Surgeons in Alton. She was also a senior insurance collection specialist for Metro Heart Group of St. Louis. Finally, she worked at National Seating & Mobility as a reimbursement specialist. Tammy enjoyed her last employer. She considered them all close friends.

She also loved her fur babies Hannah, Violet, Cody and Cheddar.

She loved most anything cat related. She enjoyed reading a good book, camping and going to concerts. She loved Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20. She had been to most of his concerts. At the last one in Las Vegas, Nev., she got to meet him and have her picture taken with him. His music will be played at the service.

She would say to all of us to live life to the fullest — one day at a time — love and be kind to one another, dance like no one is watching, and be true to yourself.

Survivors are her grandmother, Dorothy Mealer of Columbia; her brothers, Jeremy Mees of Columbia, Mitch Earleywine (Elana) of Albany, N.Y., and Joe Earleywine (Susan) of Tacoma, Wash.; her sister, Katie (Patrick) Koebbe of Belleville; her Uncle Ray (Louise) Mealer of Cedar Hill, Mo.; her significant other, Todd Kopetzky, of House Springs, Mo.; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by Clark VanScoyk, Susan VanScoyk, Beulah VanScoyk, L.D. Mealer, Violet Mees-Himstedt, JoAnn Williams and LuAnn Beck.

A visitation for Tammy will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 23, at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral and Cremation Center, St. Charles, Mo.

A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are preferred to Tammy’s children’s education or to an animal shelter of your choice.
