State golf tourney day one | Waterloo tied for 3rd

The Waterloo boys golf team is tied for third place after day one of the Class 2A State tournament at Weibring Golf Course in Normal. The Bulldogs are two strokes off the leaders, Althoff Catholic and Normal, who have a team total of +37.

Waterloo senior Charles Hawn leads the team, tied for fifth place after the first day with a score of +4. Hawn is three-strokes back on the leader, Adam Baracani of Normal. Hawn’s teammate Clayton Stoker is two-strokes behind him, tied for 12th place. John Wirth shot eight-over-par on the day, while Columbia’s Nathan Leingang trails Wirth by a stroke.

In the Class 1A state tournament, Gibault golfer Sam Range is tied for 16th. Range shot six-over-par on the day.

On the girls side, Columbia’s Megan Biscan is tied for 11th place after the first day at Red Tail Golf Course in Decatur. Biscan shot eight-over-par on Friday and is seven strokes behind the leader, Sabrina Bonanno of Norridge. Teammate Allie Leingang is tied for 13th at +13.
