The Southern Illinois Quakes 17U baseball team, featuring some members from Monroe County, placed third at the Perfect Game 25 Regional Championships held June 25-28 in Lexington, Ky.

This tournament featured 16 top teams from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Ohio. During pool play, the Quakes defeated T’s Baseball Training Academy from Chicago, 2-0.  They then beat the Kentucky Panthers, 3-1. In the last game of pool play, they lost to Cincinnati, 10-7. In bracket play, they got a rematch with Cincinnati and took advantage, winning 7-5. The Quakes lost in the semifinal to the Ohio Surge, 11-7.
