Shannen Marie Smith and Matthew Scott Helm of Effingham were married June 11, 2016, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Chruch, Fr. Stan Konieczny officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Brad and Marybeth Smith, who gave her in marriage. The bridegroom is the son of Philip and Jutta Helm.

The maid of honor was Lindsey Abegg. Bridesmaids were Tara Hannon, Lindsey Doyle, Stephanie Hart, Allie Farr and Sydney Henley. Maddie Hart was the flower girl.

The best men were Tony Mantia and Ryan Brady. Groomsmen were Nicholas Helm, Nathan Pelate, Cody Wetzler and Bradley Smith Jr. Max Gordon was the ring bearer.

Dr. Amanda Hart and Greg Smith were the readers. Guest book attendants were Allison Smith and Erin Smith. Vocalists were Janice Holdener and William Holdener.

The bride is a graduate of Gibault Catholic High School and the University of Missouri Columbia. She is employed as a fifth grade teacher at Clay City Elementary School.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Gibault Catholic High School and the University of Missouri Columbia. He is employed as a pasta plant supervisor at Hodgson Mill in Effingham.

A reception was held at Turner Hall, Columbia.

The couple honeymooned in Costa Rica.
