Prairie Du Pont fire responded Tuesday afternoon to reports of a downed aircraft in a field behind the Ameren substation at 2502 Davis Street Ferry Rd. in East Carondelet.

Initial reports indicated that the plane was on its wheels and the two occupants in the aircraft were not injured.

The occupants of the plane are currently being checked out in an ambulance on-scene.

The plane was reported to be out of Creve Coeur, Mo., and the pilots were conducting instrument training.

At some point during the flight, the plane experienced engine trouble which forced the pilot to land in the field.

The plane did not appear to be damaged.
