Waterloo High School cross country runner Josh Rodenberg is having his ideal post-season as a senior. Rodenberg ran a time of 15:30 in Saturday’s Class 2A Sectional meet at Decatur-MacArthur. His seventh place finish, 37 seconds behind the first place runner Riley McInerney of Charleston, advances him to state.

Meanwhile, the Valmeyer girls cross country team took 10th in its first sectional meet at the Class 2A Sectionals at SIUE. This does not qualify them to advance. The Red Bud girls cross country team also did not advance, taking seventh place. But the Musketeers’ Brittney Burmiester, who took third with a time of 19:33, and Deanna Deterding, who took fifth with a time of 19:40, both advanced as individuals.

Also in the Class 2A Sectional meet, the Columbia High School boys cross country team, who took ninth place. Freeburg took first place in that meet.
