Robert D. Heberer II

Robert D. Heberer II, 58, of Cuba, Mo., formerly of Mascoutah, died Feb. 2, 2016, in Cuba, Mo.

He was born Apr. 4, 1957, in St. Charles, Mo., son of Robert and Janet Heberer (nee Bayles) of Freeburg.

Rob graduated from Mascoutah High School in 1975, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. He was a devout Christian and had studied at Eden Seminary.

His professional career included joining the family business, Heberer Farm Equipment, after graduating from college.  He was a salesman and owner with his brother Jim of the family business, managing locations in Mascoutah, Waterloo, Jerseyville and Shipman. He later joined Erb Equipment as a sales representative located in Cuba, Mo., where he worked for the last 15 years.

He was a sitting elder for First Presbyterian Church, Rolla, Mo., and formerly served on St. Paul United Church of Christ Consistory in Waterloo. He was a member of the board of directors for the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias in Mascoutah,  and was a former member of St. John United Church of Christ, Mascoutah.

Rob had the gift of gab, he loved to joke around, was good as a salesman and excelled in the ministry because he could talk to anyone. He enjoyed a good euchre card game and evoked the tripod with his teammates when playing six-handed and the 360 slam dunk when setting his opponents.

Rob is survived by his parents; three siblings, Kathi (Ed) Weilbacher of Waterloo, Jim (Mary) Heberer of Millstadt, and Julie Heberer of Okawville; nephew John Weilbacher and niece Rosie (Robert) Betz, all of St. Louis; and aunt and uncle Mary (Norman) Richter of Trenton; as well as cousins and his beloved dog, Kramer.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Lillian Heberer (nee Wittlich), and Clarence and Marion Bayles (nee Harrison); brother-in-law Dennis Graul; aunt Joni Riley (nee Heberer); and uncle James Bayles.

Visitation is Feb. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Moll Funeral Home,  Mascoutah, and Feb. 6, from 9 to 10 a.m., at St. John United Church of Christ, Mascoutah.

Funeral services will be Feb. 6, at 10 a.m., at St. John United Church of Christ, Mascoutah, Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating.

Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Rolla, Mo.; St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo; St. John United Church of Christ, Mascoutah; or the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias.
