Road work on Route 158 to begin Sept. 14

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced road work will begin Monday, Sept. 14, on both directions of Route 158 from Route 3 in Columbia to Route 15 in Belleville, weather permitting.

The work will be to install safety rumble strips on the shoulders of Route 158, and should be completed by Sept. 25.

One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open while the road work is being completed.

Drivers are reminded to look for “Road Construction Ahead” signs, reduce speed and watch for slow or stopped traffic when traveling near and throughout the work zone.
