Police Blotter – 8/29/12

Columbia Police

Aug. 22 

George P. Gruska, 44, of St.Louis, was arrested on a Monroe County warrant on I-255 at milepost 7.

Aug. 24

Kyle T. Baker, 23, of Columbia, was arrested for DUI, illegal transportation and illegal parking in the roadway in the 400 block of Burroughs Road.

Police assisted with an overturned semi truck on the Route 158 ramp onto southbound Route 3 around 8:25 a.m. A 2012 Peterbuilt driven by Eddie James, 57, of Stone Mountain, Ga., attempted to negotiate the curve and tipped over onto its side. The driver refused medical transport. He was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

Shelly Ann Rauh, 40, of Columbia, was arrested for DUI and driving while license revoked on Southwoods Drive at Mark Drive.

Monroe County Sheriff

Aug. 21

The reported theft of three brake drums missing from 3035 Sutterville Road is under investigation. Total value of the missing items is around $300.

Aug. 23

The theft of a four-foot piece of iron railroad track from outside the property of 9037 Bluff Road is under investigation.

Aug. 25

A report of criminal damage to property at the remote control airport off Bluff Road outside of Columbia is under investigation. A table and chairs were damaged.

Aug. 27

A deputy was called to Schorr Lake Winery, 1032 S. Library Street in Waterloo, around 9 p.m., after a report that several peacocks on the property were found dead, possibly following an attack from wild dogs.

St. Clair County Sheriff

Aug. 27

Columbia was called to assist Millstadt, Smithton and Freeburg fire personnel with a fully involved structure fire to a vacant residence believed to be for sale at 4550 Cedar Bend east of Millstadt around 5:30 p.m. The Illinois State Fire Marshal is investigating the blaze.

Waterloo Police

Aug. 25

Laura Thompson, 25, of Fenton, Mo., was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia on Route 3 at Hanover Road.

Court Report

Christopher Sanders of Columbia was sentenced to one year conditional discharge and fined $522 for theft of services and failure to comply with sex offender duty to report. Two other counts of theft were dismissed.

Mary S. Broome of Waterloo was sentenced to one year court supervision and fined $495 for disorderly conduct.

Jason G. Burgdorf of Red Bud was sentenced to one year court supervision and fined $1,395 for DUI.
