Police Blotter | 8/24/2016

Columbia Police
Aug. 18 – Joseph W. Coleman, 28, of Columbia, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant in the 200 block of West Warnock Street.
 Aug. 18 – An Illinois State Police crime scene unit assisted Columbia police and the Monroe County coroner’s office in investigating the death of a 59-year-old man found inside a mobile home in the 500 block of South Main Street shortly after 2 p.m. No indication of foul play was discovered at the residence, and it is believed he may have died of natural causes.
Aug. 19 – Brett D. Heinkel, 23, of Rolla, Mo., was arrested for DUI, speeding, no insurance, improper use of registration and improper lane usage on I-255 westbound.
Aug. 22 – Columbia police, fire and EMS personnel responded about 3:40 p.m. to a vehicle crash on Old State Route 3 just north of the George Weber auto dealership. Police said a 1996 Chevrolet van driven by Todd A. Boyles, 53, of Dupo, crashed into a ditch. Boyles fled the scene on foot, but officers quickly located him. Boyles complained of chest pains, so he was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Boyles was arrested for DUI, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and driving while license suspended.
Aug. 22 – Columbia police assisted in attempting to stop a car that drove away from a hit-and-run crash in South St. Louis County about 4:30 p.m. A gray Mercury Sable with two black male occupants was traveling on I-255 eastbound toward Columbia shortly after the crash. When a responding officer got behind the vehicle on I-255, the vehicle led Columbia police on a brief chase with speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour before the officer decided to discontinue pursuit. The car was last seen taking the Cahokia exit off I-255. It was learned later than the vehicle was involved in a retail theft at Walmart in South County prior to the hit-and-run crash near Telegraph Road.

Monroe County Sheriff
Aug. 17 – Ronald W. Cornstubble, 25, of Millstadt, and Michelle T. Huettner, 25, of Belleville, were each cited for criminal trespass to residence, that being a camping trailer at Moredock Lake in Valmeyer.
Aug. 18 – Columbia EMS assisted the sheriff’s department in responding about 8 p.m. to a farm in the  3100 block of Steppig Road to check on a farmer who had been trapped under a tractor for about two hours before he was freed. The farmer was transported to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
Aug. 19 – Matthew Tutor, 24, of St. Louis, was arrested on two Monroe County warrants.
Aug. 20 – A resident on Falcon Place in Waterloo reported that a Chase credit card was opened in her name without authorization, resulting in $1,900 in fraudulent charges. The case is under investigation.
Aug. 20 – Lee Nichols, 31, of Waterloo, was arrested for domestic battery following an incident on Mill Street at Main Street in Waterloo.
Aug. 20 – Waterloo Fire Department and Monroe County EMS personnel assisted the sheriff’s department in responding to a two-vehicle crash with minor injuries on Route 3 at T Road south of Waterloo about 10:45 p.m. A passenger in one of the vehicles was transported to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County.
Aug. 22 – Monroe County EMS and Hecker Fire Department personnel assisted the sheriff’s department with a single-vehicle crash that occurred shortly before midnight on Route 159 south of Roscow Road near Hecker. A vehicle driven by Tiffany Burton, 20, was found down in a ditch and against a tree. She was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville.

Waterloo Police
Aug. 16 – Rebecca Rensing, 43, of Red Bud, was arrested for retail theft at Walmart after allegedly taking shirts, sandals, body wash and makeup from the store.
Aug. 20 – April Hayes, 41, of Waterloo, was arrested at 647 Mark Drive on a petition to revoke probation warrant on the original charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Aug. 20 – Derrica Smith, 20, of Belleville, was arrested for retail theft at Walmart after allegedly taking food items, pictures, toys and perfume from the store.
