Oliver G. Becker | Obituary

Oliver G. Becker, 98, of Cahokia, died June 12, 2014 in St. Louis.

He was born May 2, 1916 in Belleville.

Becker was retired from Cahokia Unit School District 187. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia and was an avid golfer and bowler.

He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Becker (nee Schmitz); children Marianna and Ronald Becker; grandson Donald Odum Jr.; and eight brothers and sisters.

Surviving are his children, Carole (Edward) Shaw of Palm Coast, Fla., Geraldine (James) Phelps of Hartford, Conn., Norman (Martha) Becker of Hawaii, Leonard (Jacqueline) Becker of Edgerton, Wis., Kathleen (Donald ) Odum of Dupo, Jean (Daniel) Burch of Cahokia, Marlene (Thomas) Shepard of Bismarck, Mo. and Steven (Vickie) Becker of Dupo; daughter-in-law, Ruberta Becker of Ellsworth, Maine; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation took place June 15 at Braun Colonial Funeral Home in Cahokia.

Funeral services took place June 16 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia.

Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fairview Heights.
