Maxine Conner

Maxine Conner, 87, of Mulkeytown, died Oct. 13, 2012, in Mulkeytown.

She was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Sesser, daughter of John Lewis and Edith Lewis (nee Clayton).

She was married to Leland Rentfrow, who preceded her in death on May 6, 1952; then she married Lendell Conner on Dec. 18, 1954, who preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1996.

Mrs. Conner was a member of First Baptist Church, Sesser. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her children Edith (Jack) Greenwood of Mulkeytown, and Patsy (Danny) Sondag of Valmeyer; grandchildren Kimberly (Scott) Bunting of Christopher, Kevin (Lisa) Greenwood of Mulkeytown, Jackie (Jerry) Atchison of Mulkeytown, Stephanie (Bruce) Shields of Waterloo, and Garrett Kohnz of Columbia; great-grandchildren Kyle Hammonds, Kaylee Hammonds, Kody Greenwood, Chelsey Greenwood, Taylor Atchison, Tyler Atchison, Garrison Shields, Ethan Shields, Collin Shields, Garren Kohnz, Hannah Kohnz, Kate Bunting, David Bunting and Jack Bunting; and sisters Erma Simmons of Hobart, Ind., Margaret Purdie of Elkhart, Ind., and Leota Guthrie of St. Louis.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sisters Florence Lewis and Eva Lewis, and her brother, Eddie Lewis.

Visitation and funeral services were Oct. 16-17, at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home, Sesser, Rev. Harl Ray Lewis and Rev. Chad Wilkin officiating.

Interment followed at Horse Prairie Cemetery, Sesser.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Sesser.
