Charges of aggravated fleeing or eluding police were filed Tuesday against Darryl W. Mason, 26, of East St. Louis, following a Monday night incident on I-255 in Columbia.

Police attempted to pull over Mason’s 2008 Cadillac SUV shortly before 11 p.m. when he was clocked at 100 miles per hour. Mason failed to pull over, police said, leading to a pursuit that traveled into St. Louis. Mason’s vehicle experienced mechanical issues and he was forced to stop on Bayless Avenue off I-55.

Mason ran from police but was apprehended a short time later.
