Mae V. Doerr

Mae V. Doerr (nee Melliere), 86, of Waterloo, died April 6, 2015, in St. Louis.

She was born May 10, 1928, in Prairie du Rocher, daughter of the late Warren Joseph and Clara Isabelle Melliere (nee Heine).

Mae was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo, where she sang in the church choir and was a member of the Mary & Martha Society. She was also a member of the Gibault Mother’s Club, and she was previously employed in the lunch program at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Grade School, where she was affectionately known as the “Milk Lady.”

She loved gardening, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her children Lynn (Perry) Schlemmer, Mark (Jill) Doerr, Matthew (Lori) Doerr, Mary (Gary) Bassett¿, Patricia (Robert) Rottler, Michael (Lori) Doerr, Merlin (Cheryl) Doerr, and Martin (Michele) Doerr; grandchildren Neil (Angela) Schlemmer, Ned (Jenn) Schlemmer, Amanda (Adam) Derus, Kevin Doerr, Tara (Jason) Bast, Laura (Ryan) Marler, Rachel Bassett, Eric Bassett, Lucas Rottler, Alex Rottler, Lana Rottler, Corey (Deidra) Doerr, Kyle (Danielle) Doerr, Austin Doerr, Logan Doerr and Alexis Doerr; great-grandchildren Leah Schlemmer, Grant and Luke Schlemmer, Jayna, Josie and Jessalyn Bast, Nicholas and Frederick Doerr, and Emilia and Sylvia Doerr; step-grandchildren Collin (Lindsay) Moore, Cole (fiancée Carrie) Moore, and Cale (Tracy) Moore; step-great-grandchildren Kaidyn, Rogan and Cohen Moore, and Finnegan Moore; brother Floyd (Marian) Melliere; and brother-in-law Clarence V. Laurent.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry L. “Soxy” Doerr; an infant daughter; sister Anna Laurent; and brothers Sylvester, William, Gervase, Gilmore and Howard Melliere.

Visitation is Wednesday, April 8, from 4 to 8 p.m., and Thursday, April 9, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., at Quernheim Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, Father Osang Idagbo officiating.

Interment will follow at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Waterloo.

Memorials may be made to Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Grade School Athletic Fund or Gibault Catholic High School Athletic Fund.
