Jerome J. Schneider Sr. | Obituary

Jerome J.  Schneider Sr., 99, of Waterloo, died April 27, 2016, in Waterloo.

He was born July 7, 1916, in Waterloo, son of the late Joseph and Lena Schneider (nee Marquardt).

Jerome was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo. He was a former American Legion member, was a U.S. Army veteran, retired from Columbia Quarry in Valmeyer, and was a loving father and grandpa, as well as an avid coon hunter.

He is survived by his children Joan Bade, Janel Holmes, Marietta Schneider, Jerome (Deborah) Schneider, Jenny (Joe) Gibson, Joseph (Debi) Schneider, Angela (Rick) Kirleis, and Allison (John) Herrington; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Elmer (Vera) Schneider; sister-in-law Berniece; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alvina Schneider (nee Andres); his parents; grandson William Holmes; brother Lawrence Schneider; and sisters Agnes, Dorothy and Rosella.

Visitation is April 29, from 3 to 8 p.m., and April 30, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated April 30, at 10 a.m., at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Waterloo, Father Osang Idagbo C.M. officiating.

Interment will follow at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Waterloo.

As an expression of sympathy the family prefers memorial contributions to Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church or Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
