Jay Robert Kossina, 65, of Waterloo, died Feb. 1, 2015 in Waterloo.

Jay was born Sept. 9, 1949 in Belleville, son of the late Lawrence and Bernice, nee Herling, Kossina.

On March 2, 1984, he married the former Kathleen Baker in Belleville.

Jay served in the United States Army. He was a grainmiller for Golden Dipt Industries and then Kerry Industries.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In addition to his wife, Jay is survived by two children, Jessica (Tyler) Kearns, of St. Louis, Mo., and Ian Kossina of Millstadt; two sisters, Judy (Danny) Simmons, of Littleton, Colo., and June (Arthur) Baumgartner of Osage Beach, Mo.; one grandchild, Jenna Kearns of St. Louis, Mo., his three “granddogs” Bear, Max, and Binx; and many friends.

A memorial service will take place at a later date to be determined.
