Injury accident Saturday night on Bluff Road

Columbia Fire Department personnel assisted EMS and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department with an accident that required extrication on Bluff Road around 6:40 p.m. Saturday. 

A portion of Bluff Road was closed for about 40 minutes as crews worked the scene.

Initial reports from a Columbia fire official are a male driver aged in his 30’s was rushed to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for broken bones and a head injury after his BMW collided with a pickup truck.

No others involved in the crash including two passengers in the BMW, required medical transport.

In other police related news from Saturday night, Millstadt fire personnel were called to assist Illinois State Police with a crash involving a motorcycle on Route 158 and Douglas Road between Columbia and Millstadt around 9:30 p.m. No other information was immediately available.
