Fountain Water District issues boil order

Due to scheduled construction, the Fountain Water District has ordered a system wide boil order for all of its customers beginning 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, through 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27.

According to a statement posted on the district’s website, the Illinois EPA requires any public water system to issue a boil order when the system pressure drops below 20 psi.

“Customers should boil all water used for drinking or culinary purposes for five minutes before consumption,” the Fountain Water District message states.

The Fountain Water District provides more than 1,300 rural customers in Monroe County and the village of Valmeyer with water service.
