Fire at townhouse in Columbia

The Columbia Fire Department responded about 8:30 p.m. Monday to a fire at a townhouse on Pinehurst Court.
No injuries were reported in the blaze. Smoke and some flames were observed upon police and firefighter arrival, but the fire was extinguished quickly. Firefighters were focusing efforts on the rear portion of the building.
The occupant of the residence, Linda Shofner, was not home at the time. A cat that was inside when the fire occurred was found safe following an extensive search. The fire was believed to be electrical in nature.
