The Waterloo High School concert and jazz bands will present the annual Spring Awards Concert this Thursday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

The concert band will perform “Chorale and Alleluia,” “An American Elegy,” “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat” and will close with “Havendance.” 

The jazz band will perform a diverse program of swing, funk, rock and Latin selections.

A number of soloists will be featured, including Spencer Kettler, Cole Hume, Eden Stratton, Joe Grant, Ronda Tannous, Alex Marquardt, Jacob Mueller and Eli Ward. In addition, seniors in the band will be recognized and the Louie Armstrong Jazz Award and John Philip Sousa Award will be presented.

The concert is free and the public is invited to attend.

The WHS concert band traveled to O’Fallon on April 13 to participate in the IHSA State Contest. The band performed two selections for a panel of three college judges and earned a Division “1” Superior rating. 

Band director Michael Mullins stated that “this is a great accomplishment for the band. Earning a ‘1’ rating is very difficult to do and I couldn’t be prouder of the members of the band.”
