An event every day that begins at 4:00pm, repeating until August 26, 2017

The Waterloo Homecoming will take place Aug. 25-26 on the courthouse square.

Food service begins at 4 p.m. both days, and rides will operate from 5-11 p.m.

A parade will step off Saturday at 5 p.m. The theme will be “Memories of the Good Old Days,” hosted by the Waterloo VFW and Waterloo Lions. Line-up will begin at 3 p.m. on Moore Street. There is no cost for floats adhering to the theme; all others are $30.

No four-wheelers or motorcycles are allowed in the parade, and candy can’t be thrown from any of the floats of vehicles.

The parade route is south on Moore Street starting at Illinois Avenue to left on Fourth Street, then left on Library Street to right on Mill Street and left on Main Street, ending at Main and First streets.

Trophies will be awarded at 7 p.m. at the courthouse bandstand for the most original float or vehicle, best musical entry, and best overall entry.

There will be live music both nights: Friday from 7-8 p.m., Waterloo Municipal Band; 8 p.m. to midnight, Sofa Kings; and Saturday: 7-8 p.m., Bud Light Brigade; and 8 p.m. to midnight, Riverside.

There will also be food, crafts and more.

Advance ride tickets can be purchased at any local financial institution until noon Friday, Aug. 25. They are $18 for a sheet of 24.

At the booth at the picnic they will be $20 a sheet, with single tickets on sale for $1.
