Columbia American Legion Post 581 will host a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday inside the legion hall.

Post 581 will recognize the families of veterans who were wounded or killed in combat.

The featured speaker will be Carla Corzine, who recently moved to Columbia and is a member of the American Gold Star Mothers. Her son, 23-year-old U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Kenneth Corzine, died Dec. 24, 2010 after being wounded by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.

The public is welcome to attend this free event.
