Eugene J. Pflueger

Eugene J. Pflueger, 85, of Hecker, died Aug. 11, 2015, in Red Bud.

He was born July 7, 1930, in Maeystown, son of the late Harvey J. and Minnie Pflueger (nee Fauss).

He was married to Arlene L. Pflueger (nee Klotz); she preceded him in death.

Eugene was a member of Frieden’s United Church of Christ in Hecker. He was also a member of Laborers Local 196, and he was a United States Army veteran.

He is survived by his children Ronnie (Darlene) Pflueger and Nancy (Craig) Yarbrough; grandchildren Stacy (Mike) Hemmer, Ryan (Meagan) Pflueger, and Christine Pflueger; great-grandchildren Nathan and Ava Hemmer, and Keegan and Carson Pflueger; brother Alvin Pflueger; sister-in-law Dorothy Klotz; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Arnold and Levi Pflueger, and sisters Doris Watters and Ardell Kinzinger.

Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, at Quernheim Funeral Home; and from 9 to 10 a.m., Aug. 15, at Frieden’s United Church of Christ. Hecker.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, at the church, Pastor Ivan Horn officiating.

Interment will follow at Hecker City Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy memorials may be made to: Frieden’s UCC, Hospice of Southern Illinois, or family wishes.
