Elizabeth M. Florin (nee Lenz), 94, of Lombard, formerly of Waterloo, died Aug. 9, 2012, in Lombard.

She was born Aug. 17, 1917, daughter of the late Albert L. and Dorothea Olga Lenz (nee Peters).

She was married to the late Rev. Ervin Florin for 64 years; he preceded her in death.

Throughout Mrs. Florin’s life she glorified God through her faithful service as a pastor’s wife. She led her daughters in church activities, Girl Scouts and 4-H, and tended her flower and vegetable gardens. She was known as a crafty lady who loved baking cookies, angel food cake, pizelles, rosettes and cheesecakes for her grandchildren.

She enjoyed visits, hugs and smiles from her great-grandchildren, and she was the greatest, most die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.

Mrs. Florin was an active member in the United Church of Christ, Midwest Senior Citizens, Council for the Handicapped, American Legion Auxiliary, Home Extension, Eastern Star, Historical Society, Garden Club, Audubon Society, Senior Volunteers, Grange and Lexington Bell Choir.

She touched so many lives in positive ways, and created many memories that bring smile and demonstrate the wonderful person she was. There are many stories about how she made a difference or made someone’s day.

Survivors include her daughters Diann (Richard) Olson of Lombard, and E. Louanne (Tom) Theiss of Greenville; grandchildren Karyn (John) Feuling of Lombard, Shari (Lee) Yelverton of Lake Zurich, Dawn (Marcelo) Costilla of Chicago, Debbie (David) Lieber of Springfield, Mark (Meghan) Theiss of Estes Park, Colo., and Renee (Bryan) Childs of Pasadena, Calif.; great-grandchildren Alicia, Rebecca, Keira and Audra Feuling, Cody, Kayla and Trey Yelverton, Isabella Costilla, Will, Ellie, Joe and Ben Lieber, Elise, Zoe and Evi Theiss, and Emily Childs; sister Dorothea Beechey of Richland Center, Wisc.; and sister-in-law Eleanor Lenz of Carol Stream.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Albert, Donald and Lyle Lenz.

A memorial service was held Aug. 12, at Lexington Health Care Center in Lombard, Rev. Elton Heimsoth and Rev. Richard Olson officiating.

Interment followed at Liberty Ridge Cemetery, Liberty Ridge, Wisc.
