Eagles win Marissa/New Athens Tournament

The Columbia High School volleyball team kept its winning streak alive on Friday night. The Eagles (7-0) took first place at the Marissa/New Athens Invitational.

CHS coach Kelly Landgraf’s team played in the semifinals against Wesclin, defeating the Warriors 21-11 and 21-10. The Eagles then topped Murphysboro in the championship, 21-16 and 21-18.

Columbia senior middle hitter Savannah Wittenbrink led the team in kills, blocks and aces, and senior libero Lyndsey Wehrenberg led the Eagles in digs on Friday night.

Senior outside hitter Alexis Royer was named to the all-tournament team.
