Columbia’s quest for its first state volleyball title came up just short Saturday in Salem.

Jacksonville beat Columbia, 25-18, 27-25, claiming the Salem Super Sectional title.

Columbia led Jackonsville, 23-22, in the second game.

But some bad breaks and the powerful spiking of Jacksonville junior Jaelyn Keene were too much for the Columbia Eagles to overcome. The 6-foot-2 Keene had 16 kills as the Eagles finish their season 35-3-1.
