Columbia wins county golf tourney

Columbia High School’s boys golf team defended its title again at this year’s Monroe County Golf Tournament held at Annbriar on Thursday. It was the third straight year the team won the tournament.

Columbia shot a combined score of 154 on the front nine holes of the golf course. Waterloo followed with a 159; Gibault shot a 168 and Valmeyer finished with a 204.

Columbia’s Andrew Wittenauer and Nolan Antonini each shot a 36, with Wittenauer becoming the champion after a playoff.

Waterloo’s Chase Whelan took third place and Ryan Stites took fourth — each shot a 38.
