Columbia defended its conference title run Friday night, defeating Red Bud with no contest, 49-0.

The football Eagles (7-1 overall, 6-0 in the Cahokia Conference) didn’t allow the Musketeers (0-8, 0-6) a touchdown for the team’s fifth time this season. Columbia scored five of its touchdowns in the first quarter alone, with Reed Greatting starting it off for the Eagles by catching a 26-yard pass from QB Logan Santanello. Greatting would go on to score with nine seconds left in the first quarter on a 37-yard interception.

Charles Farris also ran in two touchdowns for the Eagles, while teammates Adam Babb and Paul McClanahan each charted a TD as well.

Columbia’s defense also put up impressive numbers, charting five sacks, 24 tackles and 17 assists on the night.
