The Columbia High School girls golf team didn’t let rain dampen their spirits while playing at the North County Country Club on Sept. 17.

The Eagles captured their first Cahokia Conference Tournament, beating perennial powerhouse Freeburg by 37 strokes.

The win ends the Midgets’ 10-year reign as conference champs.

Columbia seniors Megan Biscan and Allie Leingang shared medalist honors with rounds of 76, battling through a steady rain in the morning.

This was the first time the Eagles have won the conference championship, much less won a tournament, this season, Columbia coach Eric Turner said.

Congratulations Eagles, keep up the good work!
