CHS soccer building momentum for playoff run

The Columbia soccer season is going just about as first-year coach Drew Crawford had expected.

“In my opinion, I thought we should have beaten Althoff (on Sept. 17),” he said.

Columbia is off to a 7-4-1 start, with two of those losses coming to Gibault. The third loss came last week, when Althoff nipped Columbia, 2-1.

On Saturday, Alton beat the Eagles, 4-2, in Alton. Next month, Columbia will play Anna-Jonesboro in the Columbia Class A Regional. The Eagles will enter the tourney with the No. 2 seed. Gibault has the No. 1 seed…
