Child struck by vehicle in Waterloo

Pictured is the accident scene on Thursday.

Waterloo police and Monroe County EMS responded to the intersection of Osterhage Drive and Fourth Street after a 7-year-old boy riding a skateboard apparently collided with a car that was turning at the intersection at about 2:20 p.m. Thursday.

The boy was bleeding from the head following the collision, according to emergency radio dispatch, but was conscious and breathing at the scene. He was transported by ambulance to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. A parent of the boy who was involved posted Friday on Facebook that he is home now with a full leg cast due to a fracture, some road rash and some cuts and bruises.

The driver of the vehicle appeared to be a female in her late teens. No citations were issued to the driver.
