Car, tractor collide on Route 159

Hecker fire, Monroe County EMS and sheriff’s deputies responded 5:45 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a collision between a car and a tractor on Route 159 near Wiegand Road, south of Hecker.

The vehicles involved were a Chevy Malibu driven by Melissa Schmidt, 39, of Red Bud and a John Deere Model 8450 driven by Mark Neary, 55, of Red Bud.

Both drivers refused transport at the scene. Neary went to Red Bud Regional Hospital by private vehicle where he received treatment for lacerations on his head.
