Buford Bass Jr. | Obituary

Buford Bass Jr., 86, of Cahokia, died Dec. 21, 2014 in Dupo.

He was born June 2, 1928 in Advance, Mo., son of the late Bluford and Opal Bass, nee Smith.

Mr. Bass was a US Army veteran who served in Korea. In 1992, he retired from McDonnell Douglas as a heliark welder in the aerospace division. He loved to play washers in the Busch League at the KC Hall in Cahokia and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice M. Bass, nee Rodriguez, and his parents Bluford and Opal Bass, nee Smith.

Surviving are his children, Bonnie Howerton of Columbia, James Bass of Edwardsville, Robin Waddington of Cahokia, Pat (Karan) Bass of Corona Del-Mar, Calif., John (Holly) Bass of Millstadt; seven grandchildren, Nichole Odem (Chad Conner), Michael (Michelle) Kunzelman, Damian (Krystal) Rivera, Kyle Waddington, Breanna Brown, John Dylan Bass and Garrett Bass; three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Kayla and Caitlin; and was s dear uncle, cousin and friend to all.

Visitation took place Dec. 26 at Braun Colonial Funeral Home in Cahokia.

A funeral service took place Dec. 27 at the funeral home.

Interment followed at Holy Family/St. Joseph Cemetery in Dupo.

Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia.
