The Republic-Times Team of the Week is the Columbia Hurricanes summer swim team.

The Hurricanes won the Kaskaskia Conference swim meet at home on Saturday, completing another successful season.

High point winners for Columbia at the meet included Rina Baker in ages 8 and under girls, and Alex Blum in ages 13-14 boys.

“I’m very excited and glad we were able to have such a good showing at our pool,” Hurricanes head coach Bart Jones said. “We had a lot of relay wins so that really put us in good position from the start. I’d also say that over 75 percent of the swims on Saturday were personal bests for the kids so that is great, too.” (photo by Craig Nelson)
